Not Fraccing - Stimulating - with 'frac fluids'!

The following has been pointed out by "Bowerbird PEL" a member of the Lock The Gate Facebook Group...

From The Northern Star:

CASINO-based gas exploration company Metgasco does not use hydraulic fraccing to extract coal seam gas from its production wells on the Northern Rivers, a public meeting in Casino on Monday night was told.

Instead the company uses a horizontal drilling technique to extract both natural gas and methane from its wells.

While that's the Star saying that (and one would assume they have a reason) it's backed up by a statement by Clarence MP Steve Cansdell in the Northern Rivers Echo.

Mr Cansdell said. "Locally Metgasco have given assurances that they don't use any chemicals, and don't do fracking. I believe in the precautionary principle."

From their own ASX/Media Release (also here in case they change or remove it).

Stimulation of the target sandstone interval at 1450 metres, in the Gatton sandstone, was completed on 5th November 2010. The well has been cleaning up over the weekend in preparation for flow testing. The reservoir has responded to the stimulation stage; however the full proppant stage of the stimulation program was unable to be completed due to operational issues.

After the stimulation treatment, the well was allowed to flow continuously for approximately 4 hours to allow a flow back of frac fluids and sand proppant. The well is currently cleaning up and is returning gas, frac fluids and water from the stimulation treatment.

If you don't "frac" why do you have "frac fluids"?

Why has the CSG industry taken to the term "Stimulation" when they are actually talking about "Fraccing"?

Why are our Governments so STUPID as to believe this crap?
