Sydney Gas AGL Core Hole Update

Attached below is a Sydney Gas - AGL Energy (Joint Venture) propaganda sheet showing maps of the immanent further invasion on Wollombi.

Nowhere in this document is the word "Methane" used. Apparently it's now "Natural Gas".

No AGL - Sydney Gas, it's Methane! A very dangerous, odourless, highly poisonous, devastating Greenhouse Gas. Throughout their new website (yes it finally happened) they refer to it as "Cleaner, Greener Energy - What a Bright Idea! " and again, in most instances, they have dropped the word "Methane", using "Coal Seam Gas" rather than "Natural Gas" instead.

While it has never been mentioned before in any presentation to the Wollombi Community, AGL and Sydney Gas have now added another process to Paynes Crossing - what they call a "Permeability Test" which involves pumping 5,500 litres of liquid into the ground. What is this liquid? Where does it come from?

They claim it to be "water" but I know from previous stretching of the truth (in my opinion) by The Joint Venture that the word "water" is a very loose term when applied to "fracing" so this unsigned propaganda sheet is simply not to be believed. [Amendments in bold - see below]

If it is indeed water, we need it to be brought in from elsewhere (not pumped from Stockyard Creek) and tested openly to prove that no other chemicals are present.

What else are you hiding AGL - Sydney Gas? What other unmentioned plans do you have for the planned Wollombi "Core Hole"?

AGL and Sydney Gas need to realise that they have no relationship with the WAGE action group and it's executive committee, and that attempting to discuss matters with Sean Gough (or others) directly, trying to make secret deals, will get them absolutely nowhere.

AGL and Sydney Gas, if you want to communicate with this community, hold a public meeting AND have executive representatives from the whole Joint Venture present.

[Two paragraphs deleted - see below]

When sending your propaganda sheets into the community, have them delivered to each letterbox rather than a small print run just to Wollombi General Store. Not everyone here goes to Wollombi General Store.

This (Wollombi Valley) is an inappropriate location for Coal Seam Methane (Coal Bed Methane) exploration. Coal Seam Methane fields need to be done AWAY from communities and residential areas in broad-acre fields like they do in Queensland, not narrow and reasonably populated valleys. This is not America. We don't throw away pristine and protected areas just to make a fast buck.

Read the AGL - Sydney Gas propaganda sheet (below) if you dare!

Disclaimer
The views expressed in this story are expressly the personal views of the author Peter Firminger, and may or may not align with the views of the WAGE Committee, WAGE members or the people of the Greater Wollombi Valley.

Further notes
Following a threat by Marque Lawyers (which I am forbidden to publish) on behalf of various Sydney Gas representatives, some of this post has been amended to address some complaints, the bulk of which required taking my words completely out of context.

All of the issues have been addressed, apart from my use of the word "propaganda".

While Sydney Gas and AGL continue to not show the authorship of the material they deliver to the community through Wollombi General Store, it will be regarded as propaganda. Sydney Gas representatives of the Joint Venture need to take responsibility for their actions and sign their work, as I always do.

Given that I wrote the story and I received the complaint, I have decided to amend the post (without apology) to save a ridiculous legal battle designed both to attempt to scare me from honest reporting and misdirect the meagre donated monies of WAGE away from fighting the Joint Venture in their undemocratic, Labor Government-backed attack on Wollombi Valley.

Thank you for doing so much work, putting so much dedicated energy towards saving this precious place.
Hard to trust in any shape or form when obscure words are used in order to quiet the residents, nothing short of lying.
Are the proposed drill lying low now?
Regards,
Marianne Sainty

As the summer grass grows long, so it is harder to spot them, so we must all remain vigilant and united.
